| Gramercy Park Studios and CHARLIE SMITH LONDON are delighted to present Sam Jackson's solo exhibition 'Autumn Song'. Jackson is represented by CHARLIE SMITH LONDON, Galerie Heike Strelow, Frankfurt and Galerie Isabelle Gounod, Paris; and is a Royal Academy Schools graduate of 2007. During this exhibition he will also feature in 'DELTA GAMMA' at Saatchi Gallery, London (curated by Zavier Ellis). This collection brings together works from a period of four years, from 2018 to 2022. Jackson is well known for his paintings of anonymous subjects who have been adorned or defaced with signs and symbols; frenetically scrawled text; and roughly hewn graffiti that doubles as tattoo. His obsessive, diaristic use of text references words and thoughts that span from the lyrical to the obsolete. Part biographical, part autobiographical, Jackson combines the personal, political and cultural to create intensely psychological portraits. Sam Jackson has exhibited widely, including Saatchi Gallery, London; The Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts, Norwich; Walker Art Museum, Liverpool; Russell-Cotes Art Gallery u Museum, Bournemouth; Dean Clough, Halifax; Galerie Robert Drees, Berlin; Galerie Rigassi, Bern; Koraalberg Contemporary Art Gallery, Antwerp; and Mark Moore Gallery, LA. His work is placed in prominent private collections globally including Javier Baz, Denver; Glen Luchford, New York; David Roberts, London; Sir Norman Rosenthal, London; and Kay Saatchi, Los Angeles.
