IN MEMORIAM FRANCESCA LOWE |
Artists, curators and gallerists combine to organise a 60 artist fundraising exhibition following the tragic death of London painter Francesca Lowe. In January 2017 the artworld tragically lost a prodigious, prolific talent and much loved friend in Francesca Lowe. Fran’s sudden passing shocked all who knew her and deeply affected a generation of artists and peers. Generosity, wit, ambitious determination, and a unique and complex vision established Fran at the heart of a community of artists who miss her terribly. Fran leaves behind her husband, the artist Gavin Nolan, and their four-year-old son Uli. In Memoriam brings together a wide and influential group of contemporary artists in celebration of Fran’s life and art. The exhibition will consist of 60 leading artists – from the most exciting emerging talent to the prominent and established. A two week online auction will culminate in a one day closing exhibition on 8 November 2017 in a 10,500-square foot space at the Old Truman Brewery in east London’s Brick Lane. In Memoriam will be a unique event organised and supported by a rich and dynamic community of artists, curators, gallerists and other artworld protagonists who are collectively determined to help support Fran’s legacy and family. Works in the show will be for sale and will form an online auction. Bidding will begin at 50% of the usual gallery priceand will include a ‘buy it now’ option. To register to bid please click here: InMemoriamFrancescaLowe.com. Bidding will be online via the website only and will end when the exhibition closes at 9pm on 8 November. The exhibition is not only an excellent cause, but also promises to be one of London’s eminent shows, giving collectors access to an extraordinary breadth of artworks. All proceeds will go to the Nolan Lowe family. In Memoriam is organised by Zavier Ellis (gallery director (CHARLIE SMITH LONDON), curator (including THE FUTURE CAN WAIT), publisher, collector); Simon Rumley (curator (including THE FUTURE CAN WAIT), film director, collector); Kiera Bennett, Reece Jones and Alex Gene Morrison (artists and co-founders of The Rockwell Project). |
